LA County Completes
Development of Visual CMR
The Acute Communicable Disease Control Unit of LA County's Department of Health Services has recently completed development of the next generation of
software for communicable disease tracking. Working closely with Atlas Development
Corporation of Woodland Hills, CA., the Department of Health Services successfully
completed an overhaul of its legacy character-based system in less than a year.
Visual CMR incorporates the functionality of the old system along with several
enhancements that take full advantage of current telecommunications and software
technology. An intuitive, Windows-based user interface is designed to ensure ease
of use and speedy adoption by DHS's staff of investigators.
Advanced features include the upcoming deployment of a specialized version of
Atlas's Advanced Results Notification and On-line Delivery system (ARNOLD). Once
ARNOLD is installed, the County can immediately disseminate outbreak alerts and
other critical information to the DHS's staff at any time of the day or night
using e-mail, pager, cellular phone or other wireless device.
