Atlas' Public Health Interface Link (PHIL) provides a way for public health agencies to translate local lab Test Catalog codes into standard LOINC and SNOMED codes.

This is a key function for automated public health reporting since analysis can not be performed until all results from external sources use the same coding nomenclature.

PHIL consolidates separate results feeds using unique test codes into a unified database using standard (LOINC and SNOMED) test codes.The standardization is achieved by creating cross reference tables that associate each local lab's test codes with standard LOINC and SNOMED nomenclature.

Once the test codes are standardized Public Health can perform mandated functions of analysis, reporting and alert notification as needed.
